THE GILBERT AND SULLIVAN SOCIETY TORBAY

1978 SING THROUGH OF ALL G&S OPERAS

The Palace Theatre, Paignton - Saturday 18th March

On Saturday 18th March 1978 the Society undertook a feat that had, as far as is known, never been undertaken before, a straight through singing of all 13 published operas by Gilbert and Sullivan.

The event was widely reported in the press, even as far as the New York Times and the company later appeared in Roy Castle's Record Breakers.

The Society repeated the event in 1998 to raise funds for the BBC Children in Need Appeal.
